Help With Staying On Target
Making the transition from high school to college is a major life change. At Ivy Bridge College, we're committed to helping you in that transition and with your academic success. That commitment includes an innovative service not available at many universities. It's new, and it's having an important impact on the ability of students to make the transition to college and succeed at their studies. And it's free to you—Success Coaching.
Coaching? Your parents never had a coach. Even your friends at other colleges probably don't have personal coaches. But, this is new—coaching for success. Typically, students who work with Ivy Bridge Success Coaches earn higher grades, are more likely to graduate on time, and more likely to achieve their career or graduate school aspirations.
Your Success Coach supports the efforts of your faculty, curriculum advisors, and personal mentors. They've coached hundreds of students at other schools to get the most out of their education. In your first meeting together, you'll define short- and long-term goals, and make a plan for how you'll achieve those goals. After that, you'll meet with your Success Coach each week, to talk about how your college experience is evolving, review your progress toward your goals, and work together to tackle any roadblocks between you and success, in school or in your personal life.
Success Coaching is personalized, flexible, and designed to accommodate your schedule. During your initial sessions, you meet with your coach for 20-30 minutes. Each meeting is specific to your individualized goals and you set the agenda for each week. Potential focus areas discussed during a coaching session include:
- Time management
- Presentation and test taking skills
- Strategies for avoiding procrastination
- Motivation
- Stress management
- Finances and budgeting
- Career Planning
- Overcoming specific obstacles
Your success coach is only a phone call away. You can schedule a weekly session with him or her at the same time each week. And call them as needed during the week for advice or suggestions. There are also simple tools for managing your progress on the web. You'll learn more in the weeks ahead during orientation.
You made a great choice with Ivy Bridge College. We'll do everything we can to make your education the best it can be. The Ivy Bridge College Success Coaching program is another example of how we want to support your hard work and investment in a better education.
