Deciding to Apply

Before you decide to enroll in this program, you and your parents should consider the following:

  • You must meet your high school graduation requirements in order to earn a high school diploma, even as a participant in this program. Make sure you review these requirements with your guidance counselor or principal.
  • You may find college-level classes to be accelerated and more academically challenging than high school courses. You need to be able to work without supervision, so be sure you are ready for these increased academic responsibilities.
  • You may have increased financial obligation for your education, and participation may decrease the time you have available for part-time employment.
  • Your grades in these courses can affect your high school grade point average and class standing, which could affect scholarship opportunities.
  • Scope and content of the coursework may differ from high school courses as well as the content of the high school proficiency tests.
  • If you fail to withdraw from a college course because you have stopped attending it may affect the credits you need to graduate from high school.
  • If you withdraw from a course your parents may have to pay the costs of the course. (That is up to your high school and school board).
